Ecogreen Analytics is a registered laboratory under the Plant Health Act with DALRRD (the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform & Rural Development). This registration extend our state-of-the-art testing services to the Hemp industry.


The laboratory provides comprehensive testing of cannabinoids, terpenes, residual solvents, heavy metals, pesticides, as well as mycotoxins and microbes, while adhering to strict ISO 17025 (2017) standards. 

The principal chemist has over 20 years’ experience in analytical techniques which include HPLC, GC, GCMS, GCTOF, LCMSMS, ICP-OES, ICP-MS and Ion Chromatography, in the pharmaceutical, agricultural, and environmental industry.

Ecogreen Analytics will also offer nutritional value on samples sent if required.

Sonja Nel-Ondrejkovic


The CEO Sonja has 23 years’ experience in operations and supply chain management. She has worked across various sectors from banking to medical industries. She brings with her a wealth of experience in quality, risk, and compliance management. One of her greatest strengths is her ability to bring the long-term vision of the company into deliverables to ensure that Ecogreen Analytics remains the leading cannabis testing laboratory in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Gregory Ondrejkovic

Technical Director

The Technical Director Greg comes with 24 years experience as an analytical chemist. He has worked across all sectors from pharmaceutical, veterinary, agricultural and environmental analyses. Greg has presented papers to his peers at EU MS in the Netherlands and has combined his extensive experience in laboratories with love and passion for cannabis. Greg has been responsible for most method development and ISO17025 accreditation in the laboratories he has worked in and he brings this extensive wealth of knowledge and experience to Ecogreen Analytics.

Mhleli Gumede

Quality Director

The Quality Director Mhleli is also the founder and CEO of NtsikaTech Solutions – a company that focuses on provision of scientific and analytical solutions to the water and wastewater industry. Mhleli is a SACNASP registered Professional Natural Chemical Scientist. He continues to participate in the provision of scientific solutions for today's challenges.

Pierre van der Hoven

Non-executive Director

Pierre’s career started at the SABC where he finished as GM: Resources. His 30-year serial entrepreneurial journey then began - Pierre was a founder and key player in setting up a number of media companies including at, YFM, Yarona FM, TBM Communications, SA Direct and Tuluntulu. Since 2016 Pierre has been increasingly focused on the Cannabis and Hemp industries.

In 2018 Pierre wrote a research report for the SA Government on the economic potential of cannabis and hemp for South Africa, after which he started a number of Cannabis companies including AfriCannaBiz (Eastern Cape Cultivator), SilverLeaf Investments (Venture Capital Fund), Baobab Training (AgriSETA accredited Training) and Baobab International, a consulting company. Pierre was also a founding member of an industry organisation called ACIA - African Cannabis Industry Association.

M. Ayanda Bam

Non-executive Director

M. Ayanda Bam is a seasoned management professional with over 12 years of experience across various industries. He is the co-founder of Zageta Solutions, one of the country’s first indigenous consulting companies providing sustainability-based solutions leveraging cannabis to government, private sector and civil society.

He also holds various board and advisory seats for multiple private companies and NGOs, and currently represents (via BUSA), coordinates the national private sector constituency on the South African National Cannabis Masterplan Committee.
