Services
Cannabinoids
Testing Method: The determination of Cannabinoids in plant material, oils, extracts and edibles by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with ultra-violet (UV) detection.
Testing Includes: Cannabidiolic Acid (CBDA), Cannabidiol (CBD), Cannabigerol (CBG), Cannabinol (CBN), (-) – delta8 – THC, (-) – delta9 – THC, THCA
Terpenes
Testing Method: The determination of Terpenes and Terpenoids in plant material by headspace gas chromatography with mass spectrometric detection (HS-GC/MS).
Testing Includes: Terpenes are the primary constituents of essential oils and are responsible for the aroma characteristics of cannabis. Together with the cannabinoids, terpenes illustrate synergic and/or entourage effect.
Some of the most common terpenes include: alpha-Pinene, Camphene, beta-Mycrene, (-)-beta-Pinene, delta-3-Carene, alpha-Terpinene, Ocimene 1, D-Limolene
Pesticides
Testing Method: Multi residue pesticide analysis using LC-MS/MS (Liquid Chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry)
Testing Includes: This method is used to test for the Group 1 class of pesticides
Heavy Metals
Testing Method: Quantitative determination of metals by ICP-MS (Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry)
Testing Includes: Test for presence of heavy metals against accepted criterion: Arsenic (As) ≤3.0 mg/kg, Cadmium (Cd) ≤0.5 mg/kg, Lead (Pb) ≤5.0 mg/kg, Mercury (Hg) ≤0.5 mg/kg.
Mycotoxins
Testing Method: Mycotoxins analysis using LC-MS/MS (Liquid Chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry)
Testing Includes: Aflatoxin B1, Aflatoxin B2, Aflatoxin G1, Aflatoxin G2 and Ochratoxin.
Microbials
Testing Method: Bacterial and viral pathogen detection in plant material and other matrices.
Testing Includes: Total viable bacterial count, total yeast count and total mold count.
Detection of: Bile-tolerant gram-negative bacteria, Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus aureu, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli.
Residual Solvents
Testing Method: The determination of residual solvents in oils and extracts by headspace gas chromatography with mass spectrometric detection (HS-GC/MS).
Testing Includes: Propane, Butane, n-Pentane, Acetone, Acetonitrile, Hexane, Ethyl Acetate, Heptane, Methanol, Diethyl ether, Ethanol, Isopropanol, Toluene, m+p-Xylene, o-Xylene, Ethylene Oxide, 2-Chloroethanol
Moisture Content
Testing Method: Moisture content is the amount of water in a given sample of cannabis flower. This is determined gravimetrically.
Total Ash
Testing Method: Ash is the measure of the total amount of minerals in a sample. The TGO 93 Standard for medicinal Cannabis has set a limit of 20.0% for the total ash content of a medicinal Cannabis product. This is determined gravimetrically.
Foreign Matter
Testing Method: A visual inspection of the plant material is made under magnification.
Sceletium Analysis
Testing Method: The determination of Sceletium alkaloids by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with ultra-violet (UV) detection.
Testing Includes: Mesembrine, Mesembrenone & Mesembrenol
Functional Mushrooms
Testing Includes: Specific alkaloid content, Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, full microbial panels, pesticides, heavy metals & allergen screening for labelling.
Water Analysis
Testing Includes: Heavy metals, pesticides and water quality (including the SANS-241 Drinking Water Standard).
Soil Analysis
Testing Includes: Heavy metals, pesticides & micronutrients.

Sample Submission
Sample preparation for testing depends on the condition of the sample prior to testing.
Labs may test cannabis products in the form of dried flower, cannabis extracts and concentrates, and edibles, each of which will necessitate a slightly different sample preparation routine.
